This far, it has taught one to recognize a handwrittening numeral 7, regardless of the handwriting style. The other has learned to play "Pong" and has beaten human opponents.
The chips were fabricated at IBM's facility in Fishkill, N.Y., and are bring tested at the T.J. Watson Research Center(Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and IBM Research(San Jose, California).
